Rose Zasibida (née Woloshyn)
Rose Zasibida (née Woloshyn), aged 91 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Saturday, September 10th, 2016 at Pioneers Lodge. She was predeceased by her husband, William Zasibida; all of her 12 siblings; and infant great-granddaughter, Dale Swaok. Rose is survived by her children: Doreen (Kenneth) Rushka of Nelson, BC, Marion (Ben) Dauk of Regina, SK, Joan Swaok of Edmonton, AB, and Kenneth (Jill) Zasibida Carlson of Dallas, TX; grandchildren: Chad (Pam) Rushka, Rodd (Paula) Rushka, Trevor (Britney) Rushka, Jocelyn (John) DeVincentis, Jolene (Martin) LaLonde, Jennifer (Kyle) Pidlubny, Joshua (MacKenzie) Swaok, Nicholas (Natasha) Swaok, Kimberly (Blake) Grenier, and Nicole, Kelly and Krista Carlson; and 15 great-grandchildren. Rose was born in Hudson Bay, SK on August 23rd, 1925. She married William Zasibida in 1948 in Regina, SK, where they lived until moving to Swift Current, SK in 1960. Upon Williams’ retirement in 1980, they moved to Moose Jaw where they lived until their passing. During her younger years, Rose was an active member of the CWL, both in Regina and Swift Current. She was known for her amazing cooking, canning and baking, and prepared the most amazing holiday feasts. Her culinary skills led to the management of numerous restaurants in Swift Current. Rose’s devotion to her family was strongly evident although she struggled with depression most of her life and dementia in later years. Rose moved to Pioneers Lodge in 2004. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the caring and compassionate staff of Pioneers Lodge. “Thank you for looking after our mother and grandmother with such respect and dignity over the past 12 years.” A Private Family Service will be held at St. Basil’s Catholic Church in Regina, SK.
