Allan John Zarubin
Allan John Zarubin was born on October 16, 1948 in Benito, Manitoba. He spent his early years on the family farm in Pelly, SK, before moving to Balgonie and later Regina. Allan worked 46 years as a truck driver and was recognized for one million safe miles of driving in 1987, before going on to drive for another 30 years.
Allan enjoyed playing the guitar, but his greatest love was countless hours spent cheering on the Riders and Blue Jays. He passed his love of sports on to his only son, who could always depend on a post-game analysis phone call from his dad.
Allan is predeceased by his parents, Alexander and Mabel Zarubin; brother-in-law, Walter Antifeav and brother, George. He will be missed by his greatest pride in life – his son, Kevin (Amanda) and granddaughters, Brooke and Alicia; sister, Katie Antifeav and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Private Family Celebration of Allan’s life will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to thank Carole Kolbe for the care and friendship she shared with Allan in the last several years of his life. Many thanks to the physicians and staff of Unit 4B at the Pasqua Hopsital for their compassionate care in Allan’s final days.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Allan’s memory may be directed to the Canadian Arthritis Society 110 – 2550 – 12th Ave. Regina, SK S4P 3X1 or online donations may be made at www.arthritis.ca. Dear Kevin & Family,
Danny, Brian and Sandie were so very sore to hear that Al passed away. We lived near door to him for the last 5 years. Brian knew him from Balgonie when we lived there as well. Danny and Brian would enjoy the visits and chats they had with Al. Sandie would get the occasional phone call as well. On holidays we would send over a plate of all our fixings, which he always said lasted him for days.
We will miss him greatly for his chats and sense of humor. We know Al was in a lot of pain during his last few years and are comforted in knowing that he is finally free from all his suffering.
God Bless you Al . Sandie & Danny Goldsney & Brian Gottselig
