Rennie Larry Zabolotney
Rennie Larry Zabolotney, aged 69 years of South Lake Buffalo Pound, SK passed away on Tuesday, July 9th, 2019. Rennie was born on April 2nd, 1950 in Regina, SK to John and Sophie Zabolotney. He was a proud older brother to Bonnie-Lynn and Sandra. He grew up on a mixed grain and cattle farm in the Ormiston, SK area. Rennie began his schooling across the road from the farm in a one room school house. He eventually attended High School at Crane Valley, SK and continued his education at STI, studying automotive mechanics. Rennie briefly worked in this trade and transitioned into carpentry and construction. He was delighted when he was offered the opportunity to begin his apprenticeship as a carpenter. Rennie went on to become an instructor at STI and later at Kelsey Institute in Saskatoon, SK. He then transferred to the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship Trade Branch in Moose Jaw where he worked for over 25 years. Rennie met his best friend Marty at Miller Memorial Bible School while attending a graduation ceremony. They were married on July 5th, 1974 and were blessed with two children, Stephen and Karis. Rennie built a home for them in Langham, SK where they lived for 10 years. In 1987 they moved to Moose Jaw, SK. Since 2004, Rennie and Marty have resided in a house they built at Buffalo Pound, SK. A farm boy at heart, Rennie loved being in nature, no matter where he was. Many pleasurable hours were spent camping, boating, fishing, and being at the lake, going for picnics, and taking Marty for Jeep rides in the hills. Rennie and Marty often travelled and in later years were able to spend some time together in Mexico, making many new close friends and memories. He was predeceased by his father, John. Rennie will be missed by his wife, Marty; children: Steve (Laurel) and their children Jessi, Colton, Casey and Caleb, and Karis (Vince); mother, Sophie Zabolotney; siblings, Bonnie-Lynn (Buzz) and family, and Sandra (Wayne) and family; as well as numerous relatives and friends. Our sincere thanks to Dr. Geyer, all of the Home Care staff, and the ALS Society who made it possible for Rennie and Marty to remain in their beloved lake home together. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 13th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw, Funeral Home. Pastor Bill Luther will officiate and interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery prior to the service. Those wishing to attend the interment are asked to meet at the Funeral Home by 12:00 p.m. A Time of Visitation for Family and Friends will be held on Friday, July 12th, 2019 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rennie’s name may be made to the ALS Society of Saskatchewan, 2430 8th Avenue, Unit C, Regina, SK S4R 5E3.
