Doreen Elizabeth Wolfe
Doreen Elizabeth Wolfe, aged 77 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Wednesday, January 13th, 2016. Mom was born on March 15th, 1938 in Regina, SK to Mary and James Wallace of Gibbs, SK. She spent her youth in Gibbs, Francis and Regina. Mom met Dad over the phone, wishing each other Happy Birthday in 1958 as they had been born on the same day, 11 years apart. They soon dated and were wed on September 20th, 1958. They had three children and lived in Regina for most of their lives. Mom loved being a wife and mother. She was a great cook, loved to sew and made our house a loving home. She loved her house on 65 Charles Crescent, a place where many relatives and friends made many memories. Music was important in Mom’s life and she had a fantastic voice. She was part of the Glee Club at Scott Collegiate in High School. Family car rides always included sing-alongs with or without the radio on, and music was there for Mom in the tough times at the end of her life. Mom loved to have fun. She loved dancing, bowling, playing darts, and liked doing crossword puzzles. She loved her grandchildren and spent endless hours with them. She had the “Wallace sense of humour”. Mom, in her younger years, would quite often be found lying on the living room floor reading the Leader Post…from BACK to FRONT. As her and Dad’s health declined, they decided to move to Moose Jaw into Mulberry Estates. Mom loved the social life there, made many friends and enjoyed dressing up at Halloween. Mom’s health severely declined the summer of 2014 and they were forced into long term care. Dad passed away in January 2015. We struggled having Mom in a facility and in July of 2015, she moved in with granddaughter Kim and her boyfriend Ryan. Kim made sure Mom lived a full life. They played bocce ball, enjoyed crafts together, went shopping and so much more. They took trips to Edmonton and Calgary and visited many who came to see her in her new home. Doreen was predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, Ty; parents, Mary and James Wallace; parents-in-law, George and Clara Wolfe; brother, David and his wife Sharon Wallace; brothers-in-law: Herb (Nina), Lloyd (Bernice) and Cliff; sister-in-law, Alice (Marshall); and son-in-law, Dennis Scott. Left to mourn her loss are: daughters, Sheila (Tom) White and Donna Scott (Glen); son, Tyler (Adriana) Wolfe; grandchildren: Rion (Amber) White, Kim White (Ryan), and Chiara Wolfe; great-grandson, Zakery White; step-grandchildren: Tracy (Lyle) Grube, Chris Scott (Lisa) and their families; sister, Joan (Matt) Balzer; brothers, Jim (Diane) Wallace and Keith (Henry) Wallace/Krywko; sister-in-law, Betty Twarkowski; many loved nieces and nephews; and special Fur Babies: Sammy, Bengi, Marleen and Bootsie. Special thanks to Sheila Hope for all the love and care you provided, as well as to others who were there for Mom when she needed you. Mom was very loved and will live forever in our hearts.
