Danette Dawn Winkler
On Sunday, May 24th, 2020 Danette Dawn Winkler passed away, with family by her side, after a long battle with cancer. Danette will be lovingly remembered by her parents, Don and Elaine; siblings, Daemon and Darla (Rod); niece, Sarah; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; as well as her Citizens All family.
Danette was born on June 3rd, 1968 in Maple Creek, SK. She moved to Moose Jaw, SK with her family in 1980. Danette attended John Chisholm School and after graduating, moved on to Diversified Services. In 1998, she became part of the Citizens All House family and called the Hochelaga House home for the last 26 years. Danette’s favourite activities included camping, swimming at Temple Gardens, listening to music, and horse therapy. At home, she always had a book in her hand and her favourite snowman pillow at her side.
Although she did not say much, Danette’s big brown eyes spoke volumes. If you ever wanted her to do something, all you needed was a can of pop and some chocolate and she would be more than willing to comply. We want to give a big thank you to Genelle and the wonderful staff at Hochelaga House, the staff at Pioneer Lodge Memory Lane, Lena at Pharmasave, Dr. Kirk, Dr. A.J. VanHeerden, the staff at Diversified Services, as well as the nurses from Home and Palliative Care.
Rest in peace until we meet again.
Due to the current health situation, a Private Family Service will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Danette’s name may be made to Tuberous Sclerosis Canada, PO Box 35057 Essa Road RO, Barrie, ON L4N 5Z2 or Citizens All Association, 410 Hochelaga St E, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 0P3. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Andrew Pratt Funeral Director 306-693-4550
Sorry for your loss. Our thoughts are with you.

Don and Elaine I’m so sorry for the loss of Danette. Though it’s been a few years since I worked at Hoch I enjoyed working with Danette. Such a sweet woman with as you said “eyes that spoke volumes.”
Her love of water and how her whole body relaxed, were my favorite times. I always got big smiles then.
She was happy at Hoch and the staff there are all very caring as well as having great parents who were with Danette every step of the way.
My heart and prayers are with you in
the following days.
So sorry to hear about your daughter. Thinking of you during this difficult time.
Nos plus sincères condoléances suite au décès de Danette.
Nos prières et notre amour vous accompagnent durant ce moment difficile.
Our sincere condolences from my familly Joëlle ( Mathieu ) and Xavier, Laurence ( Michelle ), Julien Alexandre (Maé ).
Few news: due to our health problems ( cardiac and pulmonary), we are confined at home. Joëlle is bringing
food weekly. Walking near home is great because we lived next to the river and paths are available.
Hope change for deconfiment so we can go to our country home.
My heart goes out to you and your family as I learned of Danette’s passing. No doubt she has joined the angels, having been a special angel to you during her years with you. Though I have never met her, I recall how you spoke of her so often when we worked together, Elaine! Nos sincères sympathies.
Sorry to hear about Danette she was a very special friend to me we meet the first time at school it was like I had a new friend in her she never talk much but like you say her big brown eyes and sweet smile all way a hug went she saw me I will never forget her she a special friend
Don, Elaine and family, please accept my condolences on the loss of your precious Danette. She was lucky enough to have two families…yours, as well as the caring team at Citizen’s All.
She hit the jackpot when she got you two for parents, as you made sure her needs were met every step of the way. She is at rest now, and you can have peace of mind knowing you gave her not only your love, but provided exceptional support for an exceptional girl. Take care.
Good-bye sweet Danette. I enjoyed working with you during my time at Diversified Services. I know you will be missed by staff and clients alike. I wish I could be present at your service, but due to present circumstances, that is not to be. Know that you were loved.
My sincere condolences to all the Winkler family. Danette was a very sweet young lady and the world is a poorer place without her. Rest young lady.
