Malcolm Douglas Wilson

Malcolm Douglas Wilson passed away at Pioneer Lodge, Moose Jaw, on Wednesday, September 30th, 2015.  The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 9th, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Reverend Doug Shepherd officiating.  Mac was born six miles south-east of Coderre, Saskatchewan on the BW Bar Ranch which was owned by his parents William and Annie (Sherris) Wilson.  In 1946 he married Lillian (Lil) Peltier and enjoyed over 61 years of marriage.  Mac and Lil spent their early years farming and ranching in the Coderre area, until Mac rejoined the army in 1949.  The army years had them posted twice in Calgary, then Moose Jaw, Whitehorse and Regina.  They ended their military travels in 1959.  Mac and Lil owned several businesses: a garage in Calgary, a General Store in Quinton, hotels in Weekes, Englefeld, Hendon and Meacham, an apartment building in Moose Jaw, a motel, garage and restaurant in Englefeld.  Upon retirement, they settled in Moose Jaw.  Mac will be remembered for his love of life, laughter, his sense of humour and the generosity he shared with family and friends.  Mac was predeceased by his parents, William and Annie Wilson; sisters, Jean and Maisie; brothers: Jim, Dave and George; wife, Lillian (Lil); daughter, Linda; and great-granddaughter, Lacey.  Mac is survived by his children: Gloria (Stewart) Scott, Brenda (Doug) Grisdale, Deborah (Barry) Allen, Mona (Brent) Schultz and Douglas (Christine) Wilson; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Phyllis and June.  Mac will remain in his children’s hearts forever.  His grandchildren and great-grandchildren will remember his smile, hugs and his inspiration for life.  Mac’s greatest accomplishment was the lasting impression he gave to everyone he met young or old.  Lots of laughter and enjoyment of everyone’s company.  In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Mac’s memory may be made to the Moose Jaw Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #59, 268 High Street West, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan S6H 1S8.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.
