A. Keith Wilson
On Sunday, July 23rd, 2017, A. Keith Wilson passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. Keith is survived by his wife of 61 years, Julie (DeCap); daughter, Pam (Doug) Tallon and grandchildren, Derek (Steph) and Carling (Wayne) Clarke, and great-granddaughter, Everly; son, Brett (Tammy) and grandchildren, Matthew (Brenda) and Emily (Evan). Keith was born on June 20th, 1919 to Matt and Mary Wilson. He went to school in Wood Dale country school until grade 8, where he often joked about never being worse than 3rd in his class. He went on to graduate high school in Lafleche, SK in 1936. After graduation, work was scarce due to the depression. Keith and his brother George went east to Manitoba and found work for $2 a day on a threshing crew. In 1942, he was enlisted to the RCAF where he was stationed in Gander, Newfoundland. When the war ended, he resumed farming. Keith and Julie were married in 1955 and shortly after, started their family. Keith enjoyed winters in Arizona, curling, politics, golfing, walking, playing bridge, horseshoes, and visiting over a beer. He never truly retired from farming but moved to town at the age of 85. He just recently celebrated his 98th birthday at the Health Centre in Lafleche with a beer and a piece of cake. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at the Lafleche Health Centre and Dr. Coneys for the care provided throughout his stay. In keeping with Keith’s wishes, a Private Family Service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in Keith’s name may be made to The Canadian National Institute for the Blind, 2550 Broad St, Regina, SK S4P 3Z4 or to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
