DOROTHY GLENNA WILSON (nee King)
Dot Wilson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 21st, 2011. She was born at the farm in Sec 36-Twp 22-Rge 4 W3 near Bridgeford, SK on January 24th, 1928. Dot will be greatly missed and remembered by her husband of 62 years, Erle; daughter Judy (Tony Yathon); sonBruce (Lorrette); grandchildren Jeff Yathon, Evan Yathon, Adam (Teresa) Wilson, Michelle (Jeff Brassard), Matthew (Carley) Wilson; great-granddaughter Katya Brassard; siblings Reta (Herman Ridge), Tom (Marge) King, Walter (Joy) King; step-sister Elaine (Dan Kaspar); brother-in-law Ron (Christel) Wilson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. She was predeceased by father Ray King, mother Gladys King, step-mother Jane King, brother Russ King and wife Ila, and brother Phil King. Dot/Mom was amazing – principled, hospitable, kind, generous, great listener to all, wise, compassionate, understanding, tolerant, non-judgmental, intelligent, and had a life philosophy of carrying on no matter what came her way…the King approach. She always put others before herself and accepted all just as they were; she was an inspiration to all who knew her. After marrying, Dot and Erle lived in Central Butte, Arborfield, Estevan, and retired to Moose Jaw. Dot was active in Eastern Star in Arborfield and Estevan, and volunteered her talents in many areas in the United Church wherever she lived. Music was a big part of Dot’s life – playing piano at 3, playing in a band for dances and volunteering to play whenever she was asked. Friends and family were so important to Dot. The wide circle of close friends and relatives that she had all her life spoke to the loving, caring person she was. We are all better people for having known her. Her long struggle with myositis was a testament to her courage and positive attitude of living gracefully with what life dealt her. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 1st, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Myositis Association, Suite 600 – 1737 King St., Alexandria, VA 22314 (www.myositis.org) or to a charity of your choice.
