Joyce Irene (nee Davidson) Willfong
Joyce Irene (nee Davidson) Willfong of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan passed away on Thursday, March 26th, 2009 at the age of 85 years. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 31st, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Rev. John Carley will officiate with Rev. Don Bater assisting. Burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery. Joyce was predeceased by her sister Dorothy in 2007, her mother Gladys in 1974 and her father Earl in 1959. She leaves to mourn her husband of 60 years Harold; her son David (Joni) Willfong of Regina; her grandchildren Michal, Parker, Carman and Jamie; her sisters Mary (John) Hesketh of Regina and Margery Gearhart of Calgary; her brother Leonard (Eleanor) Davidson of Moose Jaw; and numerous other relatives. Joyce was born in Moose Jaw. She attended Ross School, Peacock Collegiate and the Davidson College of Business. She worked in the office at the Co-op, T. Eaton’s Company General Office, Sask. Wheat Pool office and the office at Prairie Airways. Joyce served as private secretary to Member of Parliament Hazen Argue at the same time her sister Dorothy worked as private secretary to MP Ross Thatcher. Joyce and her sister Mary were competitive swimmers. They swam out of the Moose Jaw Aquatic Club. Joyce cherished her summers at the cottage at Regina Beach with her many friends. When school was out, Joyce and her son David would leave for the beach not returning until the first day of the next school term. Joyce was a loving partner to Harold, always by his side supporting his tireless service work. She will be missed by all who knew her. Flowers are gratefully declined.
