LAUN CAMERON WILBY
(A.K.A. Superman)
October 20th, 1971 – June 20th, 2024
It is with great sadness that the family of Laun Cameron Wilby announces his passing on Thursday, June 20th, 2024, at the age of 52 years. Laun will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Tracey Lamont; daughter, Ellena Wilby (Ken and Ethan); stepson, Mason Blatz; parents, Diana (Dee) Wilby and Warren Wilby; brother, Christopher Wilby; niece, Calynda; nephew, Kaiden; and his dog Kurt.
Laun’s philosophy in life was service, service to family, friends, and community. He had a greatness of heart and keenness of empathy that allowed him to effortlessly find solutions to problems you didn’t realize you had. Before a problem had become a problem Laun was at work providing a solution. Sometimes the problem was you hadn’t had a good laugh in a while. He really loved a good joke, a good prank, a good smile and getting everyone in on his pranks made it all the better. Smiles all ‘round.
Laun spent much of his time working to improve life for his family and community. Whether he was making improvements around the house and yard, volunteering as a ski instructor for the Special Olympics, or helping at soup kitchens and Meals on Wheels, Laun could always be found making life just a bit better for someone.
Laun had a passion for martial arts, music, pickle ball, squash, and tennis. He loved to golf and travel abroad. He was always ready to spend time with friends and family, and always had stories to share.
A Celebration of Laun’s Life will be held on Thursday, July 4th, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Celebrant Dave Foley officiating. Those not able to attend may view the service virtually by going to www.moosejawfuneralhome.com/
Tracey, Christopher, Ellena and Family. I am so sorry for your loss, Laun will be missed by many including myself. I have so many fond happy memories of time spent with Laun over the years both at work and as friends. Laughter, jokes and pranks, important events in both our lives, chess games that I rarely won, being his accomplice in more than a few work pranks. We had a common love for the car business, we spent hours discussing, debating and had the odd argument. He was a good car guy as they say and had a great understanding and passion for the business.
Laun was a true friend and confidant and I will miss him dearly.
My thoughts are with you all. Sounds like he had a life well lived.
Ellena, Tracey, Christopher, Dee, Warren, and family,
My heart is aching for you all in such a profound loss. Laun was an absolute gem of a man. Acts of service were his love language. He always took such care to make sure his people felt safe, cherished and loved. I cannot believe he isn’t with us any more. My family sends deep condolences and heartfelt sympathy to you all. I will miss him tremendously. My love to you all.
Friends and family of Laun,
I’m so sorry to hear Laun passed away. My condolences.
Laun was such a big part of my childhood. As next door neighbours for like 10 years? on Westcott Bay there were so many times we played together, with the other kids or just the two of us. Sleepovers, laughing, birthday parties, imagination based games, hide and seek on the block, bike riding adventures, etc. Laun was always kind to me. Such a decent, gentle dude.
While we lost touch as adults when we both moved in different directions, he always phoned or sent me an email on my birthday (like without fail for some 30 years). Even though it was a pain in the ass because I’m not on social media.
Nothing seemed to change Laun’s path of kindness. He smiled through it all.
You were a good friend Laun. I don’t know what happened to you but I know you’ll be dearly missed by the people in your life. I hope the universe takes it easy on you…because you deserve the best.
Thanks for the kindness.
Thanks for being my friend.
See you on the other side,
Paul Palidwar
Tracey, Mason and families!! Was sooo very saddened to hear of Laun’s passing! Wanted you to know that you are in my heart, my thoughts and my Prayers. Take help when offered and stay surrounded by family and friends and your now treasured, precious fond memories.
I grew up with Laun on Westcott Bay in Brandon. We spent a lot of time together as kids. Man it’s so hard to believe he’s gone. I remember playing hide and seek, tag, playing on swing sets. I even have a photo of Laun doing my hair! He was a gentle soul. His Mom and my Mom were good friends and I remember them hanging out at our pool. Life good back them with our neighbour hood games and events! You will be missed Laun RIP
Laun played an integral role during one of the hardest chapters of my life. He was a mentor in the car business, and had a hand in my future success in sales. He believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. He loved his shenanigans to say the least, but he was the ultimate teddy bear. He is greatly missed. Incredibly. But he is for more greatly remembered for how he touched people’s lives in his way. My thoughts and sincerest condolences.
Deepest and sincerest condolences Dee and family. Our prayers and thoughts are with you .Laun was a son to be very proud of
Tracey, I was sorry to read about your tragic loss. Sincere Condolences to you and your family.
