Rheta Joyce Wheeler
Rheta Joyce Wheeler, aged 83 years of Moose Jaw, passed away on September 7th, 2012. A Memorial Tea will be held in the Harvey Room at the Moose Jaw Funeral Home on Saturday Sept 29, 2012 at 1:00 PM, followed by fellowship at Moose Jaw Eagles, 561 Home Street W., Moose Jaw. Rheta Joyce Nielsen was born in Calgary, Alberta on March 28th, 1929. She received her education in Calgary and Kamloops, BC. In her younger years, Rheta was athletic and musical. In 1950 she married William (Bill) in Flin Flon, Manitoba and they lived in various locations until moving to Moose Jaw, in 1959. Rheta worked in a number of jobs, including florist, telephone operator, hotel night clerk, store clerk, office manager and business owner. She ended her professional career with York Auto. Rheta was a long standing member of the Royal Purple, enjoyed bowling and a good game of darts. She was an accomplished seamstress and knitter. Rheta loved to socialize, dance and spend time with friends. Her door was always open for passersby to drop in for a visit, have a drink and enjoy her cooking and baking. Rheta was predeceased by her parents, Einer and Eleanor Nielsen and her loving husband Bill. She will be remembered fondly by her sons; Niel (Faye); Blair (Diane), Sarah, Abigail and Elizabeth; daughter Debra (Byron) Kohls, Jodi (Adam), Stephen and Tanis (Robin); great grandchildren Trinity and Peyton; brother Harvey (Jay), sister Joan (Allan); sisters-in-law Mertyle Wilson and Wilma; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made in Rheta’s name to The Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Station Main, Moose Jaw, Sk. S6H 9Z9; or the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, for equipment purchasing, 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, Sk. S6H 1H3. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.
