Viola Lillian Weber (née Pinkerton)
Viola Lillian Weber (née Pinkerton), aged 96 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on October 4th, 2014 in Providence Place. She was born on August 19th, 1918 on the farm SW of Avonlea, SK. A Time of Visitation for Family and Friends will be held on Thursday, October 9th, 2014 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home followed by a Graveside Service at 11:30 a.m. in Sunset Cemetery. Pastor Marvin Seaborg will officiate. She was predeceased by her parents, Allan and Annie Pinkerton; husband, George Weber; numerous brothers-in-law, a sister-in-law, and many cousins. Viola is survived by her daughter, Carol (Vincent) Gerlinsky; sister, Lorna; grandchildren: Michael Gerlinsky – Rylan and Nevan, Owen (Taryn) Gerlinsky – Braydon, Seth and Arlyss, Christopher (Lisa) Gerlinsky – Hannah, Sydney and Adam, Mark (Heather) Gerlinsky – Jocelyn, Logan and Jacob. Viola took her schooling (Grades 1-8) at Richmond School (SW of Avonlea), Grades 9-11 by correspondence at Richmond School and Grade 12 in Avonlea. She worked at Robertson Garage in Avonlea as a gas jockey until she moved to Outlook, SK to take a dressmaking course. Growing up, Viola loved playing ball, building playhouses, going dancing and playing cards. On July 19th, 1949, Viola married George Weber of Avonlea in St. Andrew’s Church Manse in Moose Jaw, SK. The couple lived in Avonlea, Hearne and Claybank before moving to Moose Jaw permanently. Viola was a talented seamstress, making all her own clothes and as well as her daughter’s. She also loved to knit and crochet. Gardening was another passion of hers. Viola lived in her home for over 60 years until her health required her to move to an assisted living facility. Viola’s last year and a half was at Providence Place until her passing. Thank you to the Providence Place staff for their loving and compassionate care.
