John Wall
John Wall went home peacefully to be with the Lord on March 13th, 2011, while in the excellent care of Pioneer Lodge in Moose Jaw. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Anne(Wiebe) and his children Don (Ellie) Wall, Della (Carl) Hinderager, David (Rachel) Wall and Doreen (DG) Haase; sister-in-law, Nettie Wall (Ben); sister, Elsie Taylor (Doug); sister, Olga Olsen (Glen); 11 grandsons; 2 granddaughters and 17 great-grandchildren. On September 20th, 1920, 17 year old Adela Wall (nee Puddel) gave birth to John at home in the Rush Lake area. His father John sent for the local doctor who assisted and baby John thrived as a toddler. He apparently spoke English, German and low German fluently depending on which family member he conversed with. His family farmed in the River breaks around Herbert Ferry Park till the dust bowl sent them packing and moving to the west. John was 21 years old and worked in the sawmills in New Westminster, BC. He commuted from their home in Aldergrove with family and friends. He joined the CO camps and then enlisted in the Navy. While in the Navy, he met a beautiful blonde and they were married September 20th, 1947. They built a home and started farming on Old Yale Road in Aldergrove, BC. and enjoyed a prosperous working life which included poultry farming, logging, bulldozer work and land development. Finally in 1984 John convinced his reluctant bride to move back to his beloved Saskatchewan. They settled in Mortlach and enjoyed 23 wonderful years in a turn of the century home. When John’s health failed, they settled into their present residence at Caronport, SK. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 18th, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. A Time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 17th, 2011 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home.
