Catherine Violet Walchuk
Catherine Violet (nee Heisler) Walchuk was born April 19th, 1924 and passed away on Thursday, March 25th, 2010 at the Regina General Hospital, at the age of 85. Vi was predeceased by her loving husband of 43 years William “Buck” Walchuk; parents George and Mary Heisler; parents-in-law Steve and Mary Walchuk; brothers Leo, Earl and George; sisters Evelyn, Vera and Marie; brothers-in-law Peter Walchuk, Ron Reid and Bill Stadnick; sisters-in-law Nancy Heisler and Ev Embry; and nephews Bernie Walchuk, Art Stadnick and George MacDonald. She is survived by her loving children Rita Hampton (Doug Borrill), Mary Ellen(Dale) Pratte, Terry, Murray, Rob (Cheryl); her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren Norm (Susan) Hampton, Jacob, Dylan and Sofi Hampton, Tasha Downey (Jamie Baillie), Rylan, Mason Downey, Aidan, Markayl and Keely Baillie, Darren (Jennifer) Pratte, Ty, Kale and Luke Pratte, Josh (Amber), Terann (Jerred) Walchuk, Drae (Chris) Anderson, (Amber, Kalen), Leah (Chris) Rettie, (Blake, Cole), David (Jill) Wilson (Claire), Jillian, Jada, Mitchel Walchuk; and two special nieces Cathy (Doug) Tocker and Georgia Reid. She is also survived by brothers Pat (Norma), Larry (Jean) and Art (Irene) Heisler; sister Loretta (Bob) Davis; sisters-in-law Irene Walchuk, Phyllis Heisler and Mary Anne (Ken) Kennedy; friend Mona Yaschuk; and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by her friends, staff and caregivers at Chateau St. Michael Diane Thompson, Jean, Christine and especially her favourite, Carol, her life-long friend Mary Severson who read to her, ordered in and helped her each day. Her 3 years plus will always be remembered. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 29th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church. Father Neil Osiowy will be presiding celebrant and burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery at a later date. A Prayer Vigil will be held on Sunday, March 28th, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Mom touched the lives of everyone she met. She volunteered for many years with the St. Joseph’s CWL and St. Anthony’s Auxillary. She was always ready to help anyone in need. Mom left her children a legacy of kindness in hopes they would continue her lead.
