Phyllis Verhaeghe
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Phyllis Verhaeghe at Tatagwa View in Weyburn, SK on October 23, 2024.
Born to Minnie & George Somolenko on April 9, 1933, on the farm at Verwood Sask. She attended Grand Meadow School & Verwood High School and helped on the family farm until she met and married Andre Verhaeghe on Nov 2, 1951. They farmed and raised three wonderful sons until Andre’s passing in 1996. She then moved to Moose Jaw in 1997 and then to Weyburn in 2015 until her passing. She was very involved with sewing, gardening, playing cards & pool.
Predeceased by her husband Andre; parents, George & Minnie Somolenko; brother, Don, and grandson Dustin. Phyllis leaves to mourn sons: Randy, Terry (Pauline), and Ken (Debbie), Grandchildren: Andre, Marliss, Charlotte, Martino, Brooke, Theresa, Jeffrey, Kendal & Christopher, and 19 Great-children.
The Funeral Service for Phyllis will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Pastor Marvin Seaborg officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Phyllis’s name may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada 150 Albert St. Regina, SK S5R 2N2MS Society or the The Canadian Diabetes Assoc. 919B Albert St Regina, SK S4R 2P6.
