Stanford Norman Valness
Stanford Norman Valness born January 1st, 1918, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 31st, 2008. The Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, April 5th, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Linda Owens will officiate. Burial will take place at Wenaus Cemetery following the service. Stanford grew up on the family farm in the Ormiston area and later married Dora Venn in June of 1942. They farmed south of Ormiston and he later retired to Moose Jaw. Dad loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. His pastimes were music, playing the piano and violin and doing his many sketches of art work. In his younger years he enjoyed boxing. Predeceased by his parents, Elling and Josephine Valness; brother Leo; sisters Agnes, her husband Allen Nelson and Ella, her husband Ray Forness, and brother-in-law Adolph Neilson. He leaves to mourn, his children Marlene (Barrie) Erskine of Moose Jaw, Beverly (George) Auger of Gravelbourg, John Valness of Moose Jaw, Diane (Mel) Stephanson of Moose Jaw, Donna Valness (Kirby) of Moose Jaw; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, sisters Janice (John) Ursu and Joyce Neilson and numerous nieces and nephews. Donations made to the Alzheimer Association of Saskatchewan, 301 2550 12th Ave., Regina, Sask. S4P 3X1 or to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
