Charlie Tunks
On Saturday, November 8th, 2014, Charlie Tunks went with the Angels, surrounded by endless love. Charlie was born in Moose Jaw, SK on May 31st, 1926. He attended Prince Arthur School and at the age of 14, joined the Army during WWII. He returned to Moose Jaw and worked at the Canadian Pacific Railway for 43 years, making many great friends. On May 1st, 1948, he married the love of his life, Moira McKinnon. They resided in Moose Jaw and raised 3 children. Charlie took great pride in his family and he loved his yard, and thanked God for providing him with the beauty of nature. Charlie was a kind-hearted soul and provided well for his family. He loved to travel and returned many times to the British Isles over the years. As well, both he and Moira travelled throughout Canada and the United States, where they enjoyed many bus trips with friends to Deadwood, SD. Charlie loved meeting new friends and old at coffee row at the A&W and Burger King. Charlie will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Moira; children: Gaylene, Randy and Charlene (Darrel); grandchildren: Scott (Karen), Angela (Kevin) and Todd; great-grandchildren: Justice, Jonathon, Violet and Grace; Gaylene’s dog, Bozley; as well as numerous friends and family. The family would like to thank Dr. J. Stushnoff, Dr. B. Janzen and the nurses on the Medical Unit of the Moose Jaw Union Hospital. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 15th, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Pastor Bill Cantelon will officiate and Legion Rites will be conducted by Sharon Erickson of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #59. In lieu of flowers, donations in Charlie’s name may be made to The Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund, 268 High St W, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1S8.
