TKACHUK, David John
April 14th, 1952 – September 6th, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David John Tkachuk aged 71 years of Moose Jaw, SK. He was surrounded by friends and family at the time of his passing on Wednesday, September 6th, 2023.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Del Tkachuk; sister, Barb, and her husband Gord Glen. Dave is survived by his daughter, Allanna Sukenik (Bradley) and their son Logan; son, Brent Tkachuk (Sarah) and their children Jacob and Maria; sister, Bev (Brent) Skoreyko; brother, James (Cheryl) Tkachuk; as well as numerous other members of his extended family. We know that our Dad was eternally grateful for the support from our mom Eileen during his life, and particularly during his last years.
Dave was born April 14th, 1952 to John and Del Tkachuk. He was raised in Regina, SK and married Eileen Barber in 1972. Dave and Eileen settled in Moose Jaw with their young children and made a life there. Later in his life, Dave discovered his passion for cooking and went back to school to obtain his certificate. He then spent a number of years working in Carmacks, Yukon and cherished the memories and relationships that he made there.
Dave’s life revolved around his three grandchildren and anyone who had the privilege of knowing him could attest to this devotion. He took immense joy in supporting every moment of their extracurricular activities, often playfully teasing them and sparking laughter. As his health declined, Dave engaged with them through text and online games, demonstrating his love and connection with his grandchildren. We will all miss his sense of humour, his delicious Chinese food and his love and support.
We are very grateful for the support of family and friends during our Dad’s long illness, including the support of the Kinsmen Telemiracle and many friends and family during his stay in Edmonton for his LVAD heart procedure. Thank you to Dr. Rininsland, Dr. Lavoie, Dr. Karunakaran, the LVAD team at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute, as well as the care teams at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital and Providence Place for the excellent care in his last days.
In keeping with Dave’s wishes, a private family ceremony will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dave’s name may be made to the Kinsmen Telemiracle Foundation, 2217C Hanselman Court, Saskatoon, SK S7L 6A8 or STARS Air Ambulance, 2640 Airport Road, Regina, SK S4W 1A3. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Michelle Ellis, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
