Marie “Jeannette” Tiede
It is with overwhelming sadness we announce the passing of Marie “Jeannette” Tiede (nee Poulin) on Thursday, December 20th, 2012 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Kurt (February 18th, 2009); her parents, Phydime and Aline Poulin; step-brothers: George, Francis, Joseph, Napoleon, Arthur and Adolph; step-sisters: Marie and Adelia; brothers: Bernard, Fernand (war casualty), Leopold and Phillip (96 yrs – 2012); sisters: Noella, Ida, Beatrice and Reine; and great-nephew, Michael Cahoon. Jeannette was very loved and will be dearly missed by her loving daughter and caregiver, Mary-Anne(Dwight Hawken) of Sechelt, BC; son, Robert (Debbie) of Moose Jaw, SK; son, William of Williams Lake, BC; grandchildren: Michael (Caroline), Amy (Shawn), Leisa, David, Curtis (Kerri) and Cory, Sheridan (Debbie) and Jasmine Hawken (Josh MacFadden); great-grandchildren: Cole, Morgan and Landon, Brodie, Brayden Ashton and Cohen; nieces: Leilani (Bernie) and son Danny of Rutherford, NJ, Louanna (Reynolds) in The Woodlands, TX – children Michelle, Ryan, Cindy, Colleen and Anthony, Darlene and Charlene, Aline (Jim); nephews: Wayne Poulin, Dean Jr. of Albuquerque, NM, (Godchild) Patrick of Rockland ON, and Dennis (Sue); brothers-in-law, Adrien LaPalme of Swift Current, SK and Dean Johnson of Dallas, TX. Jeannette was born November 28th, 1922 in Dollard, SK. She moved to Moose Jaw in 1941 to take a Business Course at Davidson’s College. Jeannette was employed at Sask-Tel until her marriage in 1948. She worked one year at Western Grocers then raised her family. She worked nine years at St. Joseph’s Parish in Moose Jaw. Jeannette lived in Richmond, BC for 2 years and then moved to Medicine Hat, AB in 1997 until 2012, at which time she moved to Sechelt, BC to live with her daughter and husband. She was the youngest and last of seventeen children! Mother was blessed with the gift of Faith and her life was a reflection of that. She was happiest when giving to others. At a young age she acquired a camera (for only $1) and enjoyed taking many pictures. She enjoyed hobbies of knitting, needlepoint, gardening, letter writing, music and duplicate bridge. A family history was given to everyone. Jeannette was a member of the Catholic Women’s League for 60+ years. As a teenager, she learned to dance and she met Kurt on the dance floor at Temple Gardens. They married in 1948 and enjoyed dancing through 60 years of marriage. Jeannette was highly thought of and left an impression on everyone she met, even if they only knew her for a short time. She will be dearly missed by everyone that knew her. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 5th, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw, SK. Father Rick Krofchek will be the presiding celebrant and interment will take place in Rosedale Cemetery. A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, January 4th, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home.
