OLIVE THUL (nee Forsyth)
It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother of eleven, grandmother of 27, great grandmother of 31 and great-great grandmother of 2. Mom passed away peacefully with her family by her side on October 5th, 2012. She was predeceased by her son Bill in 1974; two brothers, Don and Neil; and her parents, Annie and Harvey. Olive is survived by her husband John of 67 years and the eleven “pride and joys” of her life: Dorothy (Al) Theede & 3 children, Tom (Phyllis) Thul & 5 children, Linda Anderson & 2 children, Barb (Ralph) Horton & 2 children, Brenda (Aubrey) Hicks & 3 children, Helen (Del) Mealing & 4 children, Donna (Don) Cavanagh & 5 children, Grant Thul, Jackie (Dale) Clace & 3 children, Rhonda (Jeff) Romanuk & 3 children. She is also survived by three brothers: Gerald, Ed and Ray Forsyth. In our younger years, Mom sewed hundreds of miles making our clothes. We were always greeted with warm home-made buns, cookies and loving hugs on our return from school. Mom worked so hard cooking, cleaning, baking and making sure all the children knew how special they were. To Mom, the most important thing in life was family. Because of her life lessons, we are a strong, tight-knit, loving family. Mom raised us to know the value of hard-work, patience, kindness and love. In particular, in Mom’s final days, she taught us the importance of faith and of having the strength to deal with the toughest times in life. This amazing woman was the most gentle, patient, kind, loving, compassionate person who loved being surrounded by her family and friends. She loved playing cards with friends, visiting sick friends and tending to her flower gardens. Even after the supper table was set, Mom welcomed extra guests with open arms. Mom felt so blessed to have always been surrounded by such wonderful, loving friends who were like family to her. Mom was one of those people that when you left, you felt such peace. She had such a great sense of humour and a way of making you feel so loved.
We love you so much Mom! You’ll always be in our hearts!
“Gentle woman, quiet light, morning star, so strong and bright,
Gentle Mother, peaceful dove, taught us wisdom, taught us love.”
