Rodney Chris Thorvaldson
Rodney Chris Thorvaldson was born in Yorkton, SK. on April 23rd, 1969 to Christian Thorvaldson and Lynda St. Marie. He spent his childhood years in Bredenbury, SK. growing up with his sister Amy as well as his cousins and friends. Rod enjoyed the great outdoors, playing hockey and motor biking, as well as family gatherings. As Rod hit manhood, his love of the road took over and he started his career as a truck driver. Rod met his wife Sherri (Torgerson) in Moose Jaw, SK. in 1998. They were married in Moose Jaw on May 25th, 2002. Through the course of their relationship, they had four children – Kayde, Kolton, Christian and Mackenzie. Rod’s greatest joys were spending time with his family. He loved to watch the children riding bikes, motorbikes, skidoos and horses. It was always about the kids and having fun. Christmas was Rod’s favorite time of the year. He loved to buy gifts for his wife and kids. He said the best part was watching the children rip open their gifts, so he always made sure there were plenty of them. After a courageous battle with cancer, Rod passed away on September 13th, 2010. Rod was predeceased by his grandma Ethel St. Marie in 2008 and his uncle Loyd Vickers in 2007. Rod is survived by his wife Sherri (Torgerson); sons Kayde, Kolton and Christian; daughter Mackenzie; mother Lynda St. Marie; father Chris (Sherry) Thorvaldson and their children Stephen, Brandon and Jackie; sister Amy (Cory) Reeme and their children Alishea and Hayden; grandparents Travis and Dorothy Thorvaldson and Richard St. Marie; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held in Moose Jaw Funeral Home on Friday, September 17th, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Bill Thomson of Trinity United Church will officiate. Flowers are gratefully declined. An account for Rodney’s children has been set up at the CIBC, 204 Main St. N., Moose Jaw, SK. S6H 3J8.
