Ivan Richard Tarrant
Ivan Richard Tarrant, age 75, passed away peacefully at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital in Moose Jaw, SK, after a 10-year battle with COPD, on January 2, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Ivan was born on October 28, 1948, in Birch River, Manitoba to Jim & Marjorie Tarrant. When Ivan was young his family moved to Moose Jaw for better opportunities. He grew up on South hill, where he met the love of his life Doreen (nee Holmes). Ivan & Doreen were married on April 5, 1968, and started their family soon after. Ivan tried many jobs but realized he preferred working for himself, that’s when he started his own painting business in 1972, which grew into I&E Painting & Sandblasting in Marquis, SK. Ivan & Doreen lived in Moose Jaw with their kids eventually moving into the little dream acreage in Marquis. Ivan had a very strong work ethic working 7 days a week up until the end. Ivan enjoyed visiting with family and friends, playing cards, listening to old music, and working on his old trucks. He will be remembered for the many lives he touched by his unwavering kindness, infectious laughter, and warm spirit.
Ivan was predeceased by his parents Jim & Marjorie, brother Malcom, ½ brothers Fred, and Roy, mother in-law Blanche Holmes, father in-law & stepmother in-law Ron & Eleanor Holmes, brother in-law Earl Holmes, and sister in-law Gladys Simmons. Left to mourn are his beloved wife of 55 years Doreen, his children Dawn (Derek), Beverly, Allan (Denise) and Carrie Patterson (Scott), his grandchildren Dollee, J.R., Colby, Dustin, Cass, Chris, Haely, Destiny, Allyssa and Rylan, 18 great grandkids, brothers Don (Sharen), Jim, Reg, sister Sharlene Thiessen(Bernie), sisters in-law Beth Tarrant, Diana Cournoyer, Myrna Holmes-Switzer (Stacey), brothers in-law Darrel Holmes (Jackie), George Holmes and Randy Holmes (Cathy) and a community of individuals who were fortunate enough to have known him.
