Joan Amanda Tanner
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Amanda Tanner on Thursday, September 14th, 2017. Joan was born on April 5th, 1928 at Caron, SK to Cora and Frank Colenutt, the youngest of eight children. She married Ralph Tanner on November 5th, 1949 at her parent’s farm north of Caron, SK and moved to the Clay Hill District. As a farm wife and mother, she was a very busy lady. Raising five children was her full time job along with helping Ralph on the farm. Joan gardened, sewed, enjoyed crafts, five pin bowling, and later took up lawn bowling. In later years her passion became quilting and here she made many friends. She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers and their spouses; brother-in-law, Max Reed; and her husband, Ralph Tanner. Joan is survived by her daughter, JoAnne Tanner (Stan Utman); sons: Gregory (Brenda Knowlton), Stacy (Leanne), Steve, and Mark (Wanda); special relative, Carroll (Murray Hales); grandchildren: Bradley (Sandra) Hales, Allison (Steve Slupski), Rosalyn (Rob Stuart), Crystal (Cory Alexanderson), and Derek Dejaegher; great-grandchildren: Makena and Tanner, Brooke and Ryder, Teagen and Reece, Jordan and Griffin; sister, Joy Reed; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held on Wednesday, September 20th, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Reverend Doug Shepherd will officiate and interment will take place in Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan’s name may be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Society, 420 East St N, Sarnia, ON N7T 6Y5.
