Kenneth Fredrick Stushnoff and Alice Kathleen Stushnoff
It is with deep sadness that we announce the tragic passing of our parents, Kenneth Fredrick Stushnoff and Alice Kathleen Stushnoff, following a motor vehicle accident on September 22nd, 2015. Ken was predeceased by his parents, Alec and Mable Stushnoff; and brother, Fred Stushnoff; and is survived by his brother, Alan (Sue) Stushnoff; their children: Kyle Stushnoff, Donna Stewart (John Paterson), and Jamie (Lori) Stushnoff. They will also be remembered by their pride and joy, granddaughter Kelsey Fradette (Colin) and their great-grandson Dasen. Alice was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Mary Konkin; and is survived by her sister, Lucille Dergousoff and brother, Alan Konkin (Julia). They will be forever remembered by several nieces, nephews and extended family. Ken Stushnoff was born and raised in Canora, SK. After receiving his high school education, he left Canora in 1961 with his new bride Alice to attend the Saskatchewan Technical Institute, achieving a diploma in Radio and TV Electronics. He worked in Moose Jaw in this field for nearly 50 years before retiring. Following retirement, he volunteered his time to the church, he proudly sang in the choir and also gave time to helping with meals on wheels. His passion was his family, he loved baseball, initially as a great fastball player, then as an umpire and finally as a spectator. Ken, along with his son Jamie, are season ticket holders for the Moose Jaw Warriors, a bond they have shared for the past 7 years. He will be remembered for the respect he showed to everyone and always being there to lend a hand to those who needed it most. Alice Stushnoff (née Konkin) was also born and raised in Canora, SK. After receiving her high school diploma, she married Ken and moved to Moose Jaw, SK to start their family. She worked at the Coop Creamery before moving to a permanent clerical position at SIAST. After retirement, she volunteered for the Ladies Auxiliary at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital, as well as giving time to the church. Alice enjoyed curling and occasionally golf. She was frequently seen at the ballgames along with Ken. In 2014 she achieved her goal of becoming a Lifetime Bridge Master, a goal also achieved by her lifetime friend Ida Bryant. Alice will always be remembered for her quick wit, her infectious smile and her love for friends and family. Both Ken and Alice will be sadly missed by all who knew them. The Stushnoff Family would like to invite all friends and family to a Memorial Service on Tuesday, September 29th, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in Minto United Church, 1036 7th Ave NW, Moose Jaw, SK with Reverend Linsell Hurd officiating. A second memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Canora Cemetery in Canora, SK. Flowers are gratefully declined. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Ken and Alice’s memory may be made to the Moose Jaw Union Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, 455 Fairford St E, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1H3.
