Sylvia Strauch
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Sylvia Strauch on January 24th, 2012 after a brief battle with cancer. Sylvia was born on the farm near Kelstern to Carl and Lydia Arnold on December 26th, 1936. She grew up on the farm with 8 brothers and 2 sisters. She married Dave in 1955 and they farmed for 50 years, raising 4 girls. Mom played softball in her younger years with her dad as coach and later John McNeill. She helped at 4H teaching knitting and crocheting and taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Lioness Club and the Community Club in Shamrock for many years. When they moved to Moose Jaw, Mom and Dad took up bowling with Mom being high scorer many times. She was a season ticket holder for the Moose Jaw Warriors for 26 years and an avid Blue Jays fan. Mom loved to garden, go camping and enjoyed playing cards every week. But her greatest joy was her family. She loved them with all her heart and spent as much time as she could with them. Loving her memory are her husband of 56 ½ years, Dave; daughters: Wanda, Kate (Al), Connie (Ron) and Gail (Roger); grandchildren: Shauna, Melanie, Erin (Will), Josh (CG), Bryce, Brock, Megan, Tyler, Garett and Hunter; great-grandchildren, Alexis and Hannah; brothers, Fred and Albert (Ellen); sister, Lil (Warren); sisters-in-law: Marianne, Julie and Margaret Rose; and numerous other relatives.
