Raymond Stewart
Raymond Stewart, aged 94 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday August 20th, 2017 at Central Butte Regency Manor. Ray was raised on the family farm Southwest of Central Butte, SK. He served his country for 3 ½ years with the RCAF from 1942 – 1946. Most of his working years were spent farming, except for some early time with the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool elevator repair. Ray was very community minded, having served as a Village Councillor for 6 years and later as Mayor of Central Butte for another 7 years. He volunteered many hours as a hockey coach, referee, R.L.H.L. executive, coaching baseball, and as a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for 71 years. He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Pearl; siblings: Margaret, Dorothy, and Charles; son, Gordon; and great-grandson, Scott. Ray is survived by his son, Reg (Vionne); 4 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staffs at Iver Main Place and Regency Manor Care Homes in Central Butte for the excellent care provided for Ray. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held in Central Butte Cemetery at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined.
