Eileen Jessie Stewart

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Eileen Jessie Stewart aged 92 years of Moose Jaw, SK, on Thursday, June 6th, 2024.  Eileen was born in Stamford, England on June 17th, 1931.  She was one of four children born to Cyril and Lillian Saunders.  

Eileen married the love of her life, Valentine Stewart, on July 21st, 1956, in Stamford, England and then settled in Dundee, Scotland, where together they welcomed two daughters, Karen in 1958 and Shona in 1963.  The family moved to England and resided there for many years until finally moving to Canada and settling in Moose Jaw, SK in June 1979.

She was predeceased by her parents, Cyril and Lillian Saunders; husband, Valentine; sisters, Pam (Ken) Healey and Jean (Dick) Hill; and son-in-law, Pete Mindham.  Eileen is survived by her brother, Brian Saunders; daughter, Karen Mindham; granddaughter, Charlotte (Leigh); great-granddaughter, Jamie-Leigh; daughter, Shona Fortman; grandson, Nicholas (Cassie); granddaughter, Hayley (Brandon); former son-in-law, Kevin Fortman; as well as her two special great grand-pups, Wrangler and Chevy.  

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital Surgical, ER and Medical floors, as well as Pioneer Lodge (Memory Lane) for the wonderful, compassionate care they gave to mum during her stay with them.

In keeping with Eileen’s wishes a Private Family Service will be held.  In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations in Eileen’s name may be made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, 200 – 4545 Parliament Ave, Regina, SK S4W 0G3 or The Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Station Main, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Cara Ashworth Funeral Director 306-693-4550
