Lily Smith (nee:Semeniuk)
Lily Smith (nee:Semeniuk) passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, August 11th, 2015 at the age of 87. Born in Moose Jaw, February 13th, 1928 to Anton and Rosie Semeniuk. She attended Westmount School and the Moose Jaw Technical High School (Tech), where she took the business course. After graduation she took a position of clerk-steno at the Moose Jaw Land Titles office working her way up to Examiner of Titles before leaving in 1963. On September 8, 1956 she married Ken Smith, who would be her partner in all endeavours until his passing in 2003. One son, Douglas, born in 1967, would be the focus of her life for many years to come. Music played a large part in Lily’s life. She first learned to play Mandolin in the Ukrainian String Orchestra, then switched to Bass (Tuba) in the Moose Jaw Citizen’s Band then later Baritone in the CFB Moose Jaw Volunteer Band. She took great pride in her home, which she designed and built with Ken. In later years her home and garden became her focus until, in 2014, deteriorating health forced her to go into Extendicare. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 15th, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Reverend Doug Shepherd officiating.
