James E. Smith
James E. Smith, aged 76 years of Moose Jaw and formerly of Willow Bunch, SK, passed away on Tuesday, May 23rd, 2017. James was born in Kingston, ON on December 24th, 1940. He was raised in Montreal, QC and then came west in 1958. He spent the majority of his life as a carpenter/plumber working in Edmonton and Calgary. Jim (as he was known) was a fun-loving man who lived to make people laugh. He loved to joke around a lot. Jim was best known as a Mr. Fix It – if broken, in need of repair etc…Bring it to Jim, he’ll know how to fix it! He was predeceased by his parents, Eldon James Smith and Alice Hawkins Smith (née Thompson). Jim is survived by his loving wife, Madeleine T. Leduc-Smith; sister, Patricia (Robert) Novinger (née Smith); his children: Patricia L. Smith, Frederick E. Smith, Gordon J. Smith (Monica née Swystun), and David M. Smith (Michelle née Sampson); grandchildren: Sara J (Jonathon) Collins (née Dale ), Justin L. Dale (Janine née McGloin), Dalton JM Isnor (Chelsey Lirette), Teagan M. Smith, Cole A. Smith, and Drew D. Smith; 6 great-grandchildren; step-children: Dana V.T. Switzer (Lawrie Campbell), Darcy G. Switzer (Cathy née Ledoux), and David K. Switzer; step-grandsons: Nathan A.E. Switzer (Jenna née Bartram), Steffan M.L. Proskie, Nicholas S.J. Proskie, Phillip W.C. Campbell, Brody V.L. Ledoux, Dylan G. Ledoux, and Conner L. Ledoux. A Memorial Gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s name may be made to The Canadian Diabetes Association, 917A Albert St, Regina, SK S4R 2P6.
