JACK MORLEY SMITH
1936 – 2015
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Smith on Monday, March 16th, 2015 at the age of 78 years, due to a battle with cancer. Jack was born to Ed and Mary Smith in Cupar, SK. He spent his childhood years in Moose Jaw and after graduating from St. Louis College, he took a welding course. As an Iron Worker, he was employed on many projects in Saskatchewan and the United States. Also during this period, he farmed with his father and brother Jim and it wasn’t too long that Jack decided to devote his life to farming. Jack was a member of the Shriners and had many a great time with the Motorcycle Patrol. In 1996, he married Carol Hood, the love of his life, and together they enjoyed several trips to Yuma, Arizona. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Carol; 3 stepchildren: J.D. Larson (Brenda), Holly Larson-Luther and Joe Larson (Irina); 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jim (Marg) and Rob (Vel); sister, Marion; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be deeply missed by family, friends and the farming community. Thank you to the dedicated doctors and nurses at Pasqua Hospital’s Palliative Care, and special thanks to Palliative Home Care nurse Cindy. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 23rd, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd Ave NW, Moose Jaw, SK with Father Rick Krofchek officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in the name of John M. Smith may be made to the Shrine Patient Transportation Fund, 2065 Hamilton St, Regina, SK S4P 2E1.
