Debra Anne Smith
Strong, Beautiful, Compassionate, Kind, Smart, Funny, Driven, Courageous and Warrior are just a few words to describe Debra Anne Smith, aged 63 years of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, August 8th, 2020.
Debra was born in Regina, SK to William and Sylvia Swinton, the second girl of five. In 1984 while raising her two children, Debra attended Wascana Nursing Program where she achieved her Registered Psychiatric Nursing degree. In 1988 she moved her family to Moose Jaw where she got a job at Valley View Centre. She worked there for 29 years and loved every aspect of her job. In 1998 she went on a blind date with a man that turn out to be her soul mate and the love of her life. Debra and Doug were married 11 months later. Debra loved being a grandma, her seasonal campsite, flowers, knitting, and the colour teal.
She was predeceased by her husband, Doug Smith; parents, William and Sylvia Swinton; in-laws, Basil and Alice Smith; and sister, Linda Hodel.
Debra is survived by her daughter, Kali Woodley (Kendel Huber); son, Sean and JerriLynn Watson; many loving grandchildren; as well as 3 great-grandchildren.
Due to Covid 19 restrictions, a Private Family Service will be held. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Debra’s name may be made at Prairie Heart Mobility, 1240 9th Ave NW, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 4K2. Donations will go towards the purchase of transport chairs for Moose Jaw Palliative Care as a legacy of Debra and Doug Smith. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Kali, I’m so sorry your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers! I have fond memories of hanging out at your house, your mom was another mom for all us girls! Bless you during this time.
