Barry Gale Sims
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barry Gale Sims at the age of 55 years on Monday, October 26th, 2015. Barry passed peacefully with his family by his side. He was born in Moose Jaw, SK on November 23rd, 1959 to Bob and Rena Sims. Barry went to Chaplin school until he later started his first job tearing down power lines. He then went on to work at Saskatchewan Minerals, but he didn’t find his true passion until he started with Canadian Pacific Railway, retiring in 2012 after 34 years of dedicated service. Barry took great pride in his work, with every job he did he gave it his all. Barry married the love of his life Brenda Hallborg in 1980, they had two caring children, Tina and Mike, as well as two grandchildren, Danika and Deklan. The love Barry had for his family was undeniable. He spent many years farming with his brother Randy and son Mike, there was nothing they couldn’t have accomplished together. After selling the farm in 2007 Barry was able to focus on another adventure, again with family, Chaplin Fabricating. Not only did he do lasting work but he gained many lasting friendships over the last few years. Barry enjoyed traveling, fishing, storytelling, spending time with family and close friends, and above all else, he treasured the time he got to spend with his grandkids. Barry took many opportunities to pass down his wisdom and knowledge to those willing to learn, whether it be family seeking help with a project, mentoring co-workers or anyone else who valued his skill and patient teaching. His work ethic was like no other, no matter what he was working on he made sure it was done right. When Barry wasn’t working hard he enjoyed his winter getaways in Mexico and hoped one day he could enjoy the sunshine with his family. He was predeceased by his father, Bob Sims; his mother and father-in-law, Maxine and Sam Cristo; father-in-law, Marvin Hallborg; and brothers-in-law, Barry and Calvin Hallborg. Barry will be sadly missed by his mom, Rena; wife, Brenda; children, Tina (Kevin) and Mike (Pupreaw); grandchildren, Danika and Deklan; brothers, Randy (Lorrie) and Dale (Jodi); sisters, Wendy (Willy) and Jackie (Craig); brother-in-law, Milt (Gina; sisters-in-law, Sherry and Wanda; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. A Celebration of Barry’s Life will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chaplin Community Complex. Barry’s family wants to invite people to come forward and share special memories during the celebration. There will be a private interment at a later date.
