Katherine Silzer

Katherine Silzer (nee Selinger) of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan passed away on Friday, February 12th, 2010 at the age of 97 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Mathew and Dora Zacher, first husband Anton in 1976, brothers George, Frank and Peter, sister Beth, in 2009 her son-in-law Ronald Horsnall, and her daughter-in-law Clara Selinger. Katherine will be lovingly remembered by her two sons Philip Selinger and Jerome (April) Selinger; five daughters Dorothy (Sally) Horsnall, Regina (George) Procknow (Vertefeuille), Betty Anne (Roger) Labreche, Judy (Terry) Hollingshead and Grace Selinger (Gary Chyer); 21 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 19 great great grandchildren; and two brothers Adam and Edward Zacher; aunt Anne Eisler. Cremation will take place. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church in Odessa, Saskatchewan at a later date. Mom lived a full and busy life. They farmed all their lives in St. Peter’s Colony, and later in Odessa. Mom was involved in the Catholic Women’s League activities and in the Parish, as well as with Girl Guides. She was an expert in crocheting, knitting and sewing, and her girls carry on the tradition. She was an excellent babysitter during the summer months for all her grandchildren. Seven years ago Mom moved to Moose Jaw. For the last two and a half years she lived at Extendicare, where she received loving and compassionate care. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 10th, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church in Odessa, Saskatchewan. Father L.
