George William Shooter
It is with great sadness that the family of George William Shooter announces his passing at Central Butte Regency Manor on Tuesday, July 7th, 2020, at the age of 96 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Horace and Nellie (née: Tucker) Shooter; his wife, Grace (née: Johnson), the love of his life; and brother, Cyril Shooter. George will be lovingly remembered by his 4 children: Melvin Shooter (Curtis and Desiree, Jenna and Rich, and Andrew and Belle), Allan (Cheryl) Shooter (Noel and Mandy, Danielle and Dylan, Jennifer and Randy, Justin and Larissa), Carolyn (Allan) Kurz (Sheldon and Nadine, Allison and David, Clayton and Erin), Barbara (Ron) Wandler (Jordan and Pam, Shana and Andrew, Taylor); 17 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. George was born July 26th, 1923 on the farm in the Shooter Hill district. George spent many of his early farming and ranching years working together with his brother, Cyril. After several years, George decided he needed another partner and married his school sweetheart, Grace, on November 15th, 1947. George and Grace built their new home on the original Shooter Homestead and went on to raise four children. George had a great passion for the farming lifestyle. He enjoyed socializing with all his neighbours and those involved with the rural lifestyle. George loved having a beer, which made these visits more enjoyable, right into his nineties. George in his final years of life would always want to make trips to the homestead to check on cattle and crops. He loved the hills and getting back to the home place.
A Private Family Interment will be held at Riverhurst Cemetery. Those so wishing may make a donation in George’s name to Iver Main Place, Box 550, Central Butte, SK S0H 0T0 or The Canadian Diabetes Association, 917A Albert St, Regina, SK S4R 2P6. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Andrew Pratt Funeral Director 306-693-4550
Sending our deepest condolences to the Shooter families. George’s quiet kindness will be missed by many.

Shooter Family: Our sincere condolences from Barb and I to your Family and loved ones. Happy to have shared the times and memories from some time ago. “Shooter Hill” will always stand as the testament to the great people it became namesake for and was created as the horizon it enraptured us, from the “south”
