Jennie Margaret Shankoff
Jennie Margaret Shankoff was born on January 10th, 1938 and passed away peacefully surrounded by love on Saturday, July 10th, 2021. Auntie Jean was born in Moose Jaw, SK and was educated at McGill University and in France. She had countless certificates attesting to her brilliance and the endless quest for knowledge and betterment. She was an artisan and her passion was creating Raggedy Anne dolls, which were extremely popular and loved by children and seniors alike. She was also a talented painter. Auntie Jean was once known as the ‘Bean Lady’ for possessing magic beans that would thrive anywhere – including on your balcony. She was predeceased by her father, Mike Shankoff; mother, Anastasia Shankoff (née: Antonchuk); uncle, Dmitri Antonchuk of California; sister, Shirley Cox; and brother, Powell Shankoff. Jennie is mother to daughter, Chantal and aunt to nephews: Alan Cox (Natalia da Costa-Cox), Gower Cox and Mitch Cox (deceased). The family wishes to thank, and is deeply indebted to, Moose Jaw PACT members Shawn and Tanya and to EMS Deputy Chief Angela Sereda who will be in our hearts forever. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 17th, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd Ave NW, Moose Jaw, SK. Father George Thattuparampil will be the presiding celebrant and interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, July 16th, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre c/o Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Ave, Regina, SK S4T 7T1.
