Gladys Pearl Sellars
Gladys Pearl Sellars, aged 95 years of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25th, 2019. Gladys was born in Moose Jaw to George and Pearl Staples on March 3rd, 1924. She attended school in the Petrolia district near Moose Jaw. She married Bill Sellars on May 29th, 1945 and they moved to the farming district north of Buffalo Pound Lake, where they labored with love together on the family farm until 1977 when Bill’s failing health necessitated a move back to Moose Jaw. Gladys was involved in supporting her farm community and as well as curling and square dancing. She was an active member of Zion United Church once she moved back to Moose Jaw. For years, she volunteered faithfully with the clothing depot and at Pioneer Lodge. Her passion for needlework, knitting, and quilting left many afghans, quilts, slippers and mittens which still warm our hearts. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Bill; siblings: Richard and Stella Staples, Annie and Clarence Burwell, Roy and Amy Staples, Harvey and Dot Staples, Betty and Les Marlin, Mary and Barnie Haughian, and Vern Kemick; sisters- in-law: Edna Sellars, Mona and Roy Johnson, and Irene and Bill Stroud; sons-in-law, Gerry Harries and Rick Dillen; and daughter–in-law, Sandra Sellars. Gladys is survived by her children: Kathleen Harries, Chilliwack, BC; Helen Dillen (Gamil Tadros), Calgary, AB; George Sellars, Leader, SK; and Fred Sellars (Sharon), Lethbridge, AB; sister, Doreen Kemick, Surrey, BC; as well as 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wish to thank the hospital staff at Extendicare for their attention to Gladys in her final days. Our deepest thanks to Leslie Knelson and Brenda Tuplin for the visits and, most importantly, the love shown to us and to our Mom during this time. A Celebration of Gladys’ life will be held on Thursday, October 31st, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home and interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Gladys’ name may be made to charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Todd Sjoberg, Funeral Director 306-693-4550.
