Edna M. Sellars
Sellars – Edna M. Sellars passed away peacefully on March 11th, 2011. Edna was born on the family farm in the Sunset District near Findlater, SK, April 13th, 1921. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Fanny, her brother William, and her sisters Mona and Irene. Edna worked as an accounting clerk at Saskatchewan Hospital in North Battleford, subsequently transferring to Valley View Centre in Moose Jaw. Edna was an avid gardener, and she enjoyed sewing her own clothes, quilting, needlework, word and jigsaw puzzles, as well as carpentry. After her retirement, she took a number of trips, and enjoyed traveling with the “arm-chair club” from Minto Church. She was a member of Minto Church for over 40 years, and an active member of the UCW. Although she never married, she was the “City Mom” to many of her nieces and nephews, welcoming them with a big smile, a hot meal and a warm bed as needed. She also cared for her parents and her sister Irene for a time. Edna will always be remembered for her warmth, her fierce independence, and her devotion to her family. The family would like to thank the staff of Pioneer Lodge for making her feel at home for the past year. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Gladys Sellars, Ellnora Brandon and Audrey Johnson, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 16th, 2011 at 2:00 pm in Minto United Church, with a tea to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, SK., S6H 2M2.
