She was a wonderful asset to the Palliative Care team and spent many volunteer hours caring for the sick, dying and grieving. In her retirement she spent many hours writing and had many stories chosen to be published in the paper. Her most rewarding hours were spent writing her family history and putting her memories into book form. Her family was very proud of her many accomplishments. Jean was a woman of great faith in God and in Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior. Jean, Mom, Grandma, and Mama Jean, we are assured by the gospel that you are with our Lord. We can be assured that we can call on your prayers for assistance as we eagerly await the day that we will meet again. What rejoicing there will be in Heaven on that glorious day. Dear Doug, Sharon, Garry, Allan, Bonny and Tim,
I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I had a lovely visit with your Mom several months ago at a funeral in MJ. I was pleased to see how well she was, and she was excited to tell me about writing her memoirs.
Over the years, I have anticipated our visits whenever there is a reason for former Ormiston residents to gather. Your Mom was always eager and willing to exchange memories of our time at
“home”. I will miss those opportunities in the future.
Dear, Doug, Sharon, Garry, Allan, Bonny, and Tim,
My sincere condolences on the loss of your mother.
Your mom had a lifelong passion for our hometown of Ormiston. I , for one, very
much enjoyed her stories of the characters and times of the 1940’s and the 1950’s in
that little prairie hamlet. I believe that inspiration from her has been passed unto all of
you as I am fond of reminiscing with each of you about the 1960’s when we have those
reunions from time to time.
Your mother was all about family. Rest well Jean.

Thanks Bill for your kind words. It was a very tough and unexpected loss for all of us. Christmas was not the same this year, without seeing her face. She had little health problems over the years, but as you know someone else determines when our life on this earth is over, and our second life begins. After my dad died (some 35 years now), she did a lot of charitable work especially with people who had suffered losses. Helping them cope with the death of a loved one. It was the type of person she was.
She dearly loved her roots and Ormiston in particular. She spent many, many hours over the last number of years on our family tree. Documenting people and places, and all kinds of stories that she remembers. I came home with some 20 binders of pictures and stories. She also had a book that my sister-in-law is just finishing. a book on all her memories. I am going through these binders and scanning all the information. There is lots of info and pictures related to Ormiston. I will send you those as you may be interested in reading some of that.
