Opal Ellaine Schick (née: Edwards)
Opal Ellaine Schick, aged 79 years of Moose Jaw, SK departed from this life on Saturday, September 14th, 2019 with her daughter Denise at her side, after a brief but very courageous battle with cancer. She was the light and love to her family, and was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, and friend. Opal was born on February 27th, 1940 in Rockglen, SK. She was predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Fern Edwards (New); first husband, Victor Hansen; infant daughter, Darcy; son, Karl Hansen; grandchildren, Devin and Demi McKechnie; siblings: Dora Hansen, Lynda Endicott, and Clifton (Buster) Edwards; and mother-in-law, Barbara Schick. Opal will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Wally; daughter, Denise (Pete); granddaughter, Destiny (Dustin); great-grandchildren, Draven and Dace; granddaughter, Nickila Hansen; son, Ken (Jan); grandsons: Brandt, Riley (Cass), and Jordan; sisters-in-law: Phyllis Edwards, Elsie Meacher, Martha Rodin, and Rose Hutchinson; as well as many special nieces, nephews, and cousins. The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, September 22nd, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Opal’s name may be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre c/o Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Ave, Regina, SK S4T 7T1 or MADD Canada, 2010 Winston Park Drive, Suite 500, Oakville, ON L6H 5R7.
