Isabel Sawers (née McKay)
1931 – 2018
The family of Isabel Sawers wish to announce the passing of our Mom on Sunday, July 8th, 2018 in Moose Jaw, SK with family by her side. Isabel was born on March 2nd, 1931 to Jack and Olive McKay on the family farm south of Riverhurst, SK. Her siblings were Murray, Betty, and later Jean. Isabel married John Sawers on November 26th, 1953 and resided in Riverhurst, SK. They raised their three children, Bev, Lori, and Tim in Riverhurst. Isabel worked at the local grocery store with great dedication. She took pride in her home, yard, and family. Isabel remained in Riverhurst until moving to Moose Jaw in 2012, where she lived until her passing. Isabel is survived by her 3 children and their spouses, 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren: daughter, Bev (Bill) Claffey; grandson, Ryan Claffey; daughter, Lori (Dale) Adrian; granddaughter, Angela (Corbin) Erickson; great-grandchildren, Parker and Ashton Erickson; granddaughter, Sondra (Jay) Hamilton; great-grandson, Grayson Hamilton; grandson, Jared Adrian (friend Hillary Hopper); granddaughter, Shanna (Jesse) Armstrong; great-grandchildren: Emma, Jayda, and Kade Armstrong; son, Tim (Denise) Sawers; granddaughter, Kayla Sawers; grandson, Jordan Sawers; siblings, Murray McKay and Jean Molsberry; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. In keeping with Isabel’s wishes, a private family graveside service will be held at Riverhurst Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Isabel’s name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, Unit 26 – 1738 Quebec Ave, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9.
