Myrtle Mae Sannes
October 18th, 1923 – January 7th, 2019
At the age of 95 years, our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and child of God, danced home to be with her Lord and Saviour and late husband Arnold, on Monday, January 7th, 2019. Myrtle was born on October 18th, 1923 in Swift Current, SK. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Hazel Greenway; husband, Arnold (1996); son, Keith Raymond (1957); brothers, Keith (Rhona), Swift Current SK and Sid (Peg), Medicine Hat AB; sisters, Mabel (Dave) Axtel, Clearwater, Florida and Elaine (Jim) Breitkreutz, Swift Current SK; and brother-in-law, Mac Steer, Kelowna, BC. Myrtle is survived by her beloved sister, Louise Steer (101 yrs young) Kelowna, BC; sister-in-law, Alice Smith, Swift Current, SK (100 years young); and her children: Wayne (Laverne) Sannes, Moose Jaw, SK, Lonnie (Carol) Sannes, Chatham, ON, and Delee (Eric) Duyker, Toronto, ON. She was a proud grandmother to Crystal (Dave), David (Andrea), Lisa (Dan), Corinne (Mark), Nicola, and Willem; and great-grandmother to Emery, Bennett, Samuel, Emma, Liam, Andrew, Clare and Brenna. Myrtle also has many nieces and nephews who always held a special place in her heart. Distance separated Myrtle from many family members, but she was always interested in their lives and excited by visits, phone calls and cards. Myrtle’s early years were lived on the family farm near Wymark, south of Swift Current. At a young age Myrtle learned to bake and cook, helping out on a busy farm with livestock and grain farming. Myrtle attended a one room school house just minutes from the family farm. There she learned to have fun with friends and family. Our special thanks to the various nursing homes that she had stayed in over the years in Moose Jaw with her last years being at Pioneer Lodge. She loved her time at Pioneer Lodge and a thank you to all the staff that made that possible. A private family interment will be held at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Swift Current, SK. A Celebration of Myrtle’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 20th, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. To view the service online, please select the Webcast option on the Moose Jaw Funeral Home website. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.
