Grant Albert Sandbeck
On July 22, 2010, after a courageous battle with brain cancer, we are sad to announce the passing of Grant Albert Sandbeck. He was born June 1st, 1965 in Mossbank, SK. Grant was predeceased by his parents, Clifford and Dolly; infant daughter, Amber Jade Elizabeth and special dog, Kiana. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Darla and son, Kelly Sawin; brothers Jim (Deb) of Moose Jaw, Don (Mary) of Mossbank, Kelly (Andrea) of Moose Jaw and sister Sandra (Ed) Sokolan of Humboldt; his in-laws Butch and Barb Sawin of Mossbank, Duane (Corinne) Sawin of Moose Jaw, and Dionne (Lars) Tjeltveit of Assiniboia; many special nieces and nephews as well as great nieces, nephews and godchildren, although these were not the only children that loved him as ‘Uncle Grant’. Grant was born in Mossbank and raised on the family farm. He later moved into a new home in town. Upon finishing high school in Mossbank, he attended SIAST for carpentry. He put his training to good use as he pursued a career as a master cabinet builder/installer for Pilsner Cabinets of Moose Jaw. He took extraordinary pride in perfecting every job for over 20 years. On July 22nd, 1995 he married the love of his life, Darla Sawin. Grant had a great love for the family farm which received its Century Farm recognition in 2010. He loved to participate in many sports especially baseball, hockey and hunting. He enjoyed his years playing with the Blades, A’s and Assiniboia Twilighters in the over 35 league. He wore his Leafs and Rider jerseys with pride. Those owning jerseys of any sort are invited to wear them at the celebration of his life. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 29th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Mossbank Community Hall with interment to follow at the Mossbank Cemetery. Memorials accepted in Grant’s name to Mossbank Centennial Arena or Mossbank Community Hall.
