Ethel Mary Margaret Roy
Ethel Mary Margaret Roy (Fitzpatrick), aged 94 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away Wednesday, June 27th, 2012. Ethel was born on the family farm in Willow Bunch, SK on October 5th, 1917. She married Albert Roy on October 15th, 1947. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert in 1975; an infant sister; brothers: Jim (Christine) Fitzpatrick, Earl (Mary) Fitzpatrick, Leo and Joe Fitzpatrick; sister, Kathleen (John) Krushelnitzky; brothers-in-law: Bernard Philippon, Harry Stroich and Wilfred (Angelique) Roy; sisters-in-law: Lumina (John) Bonneau, Annette (Jack) Pearce, Mary (Alphonse) Pelletier and Nelida (Bert) Bloom. She leaves to mourn, her children: Doris (Richard) Markusson, Rita (Grant) Cameron, Vivian Walker and David; sisters, Irene Stroich and Olga Philippon; sister-in-law, Henriette Fitzpatrick; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Ethel worked at many places throughout her life and retired from the Assiniboia Union Hospital in 1982. She was a valued worker, co-worker and friend to all those she worked with. Ethel sold her house in Assiniboia in 1999 and moved to Moose Jaw to live with her son David. They had many happy years together. She had a great sense of humour and loved to joke around. She loved to travel and enjoyed many trips over the years. She loved bowling, watching the Blue Jay ball games, Daniel O’Donell, playing cards and of course going to the casino. She will be greatly missed by all who had the honour of knowing her. A Prayer Service was held on Sunday, July 1st, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, July 2nd, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd Ave. NW, Moose Jaw, SK. Father Rick Krofchek was the presiding celebrant and interment has taken place in Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, SK. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations in Ethel’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, SK S6H 2M2.
