Garth Rodgers
It is with profound sadness that the family of Garth Rodgers announces his sudden passing on Saturday, April 4th, 2015. He was predeceased by his father, Ronald; paternal grandparents, Russell and Minnie; maternal grandparents, Clifford and Mabel; and uncles, Gary and Gordon. Garth will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Suzette; daughters, Megan (Matt) and Melissa (Curtis); mother, Margaret Taylor; brother, Daryl Taylor; sister, Diane Magel (Jackson); as well as numerous other family members. Garth was born on March 31st, 1958 in Mossbank, SK. He completed his education in Mossbank and went on to get his Heavy Duty Mechanic certification at Kelsey in Saskatoon, SK. Upon completion, Garth and Suzette moved to Moose Jaw where he worked as a mechanic in the farm machinery industry and at CFB Moose Jaw. At the time of his passing he was employed by the City of Moose Jaw Fire Department. He was extremely proud to be a part of the brotherhood and took his job very seriously ensuring the safety of all his men. In 1984 Garth and Suzette were married and raised their two daughters, Megan and Melissa. Garth’s greatest joy was supporting all of Megan and Melissa’s activities. He also coached them for many years in the Moose Jaw Minor Girls Fastball League. He was very proud of all their accomplishments. His love of sports included slo-pitch, curling, basketball, volleyball, golf and billiards. He was an avid fan of the Moose Jaw Warriors, Edmonton Oilers, Saskatchewan Roughriders and Toronto Blue Jays. Garth’s love of travel took him many places. He enjoyed hot destinations, visiting friends and family and spending time with his wife, Suzette. Above all, Suzie, Megan and Melissa were everything to him. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 10th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hillcrest Apostolic Church, 1550 Main St N, Moose Jaw, SK. Pastor Marvin Seaborg will officiate and interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Garth’s name may be made to the Moose Jaw Firefighters Charity Fund, 1205 Main St N, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 6M3.
