Katherine Anne (Nancy) Ripley
Katherine Anne (Nancy) Ripley, aged 76 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 9th, 2014 at Chateau St. Michael’s. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 14th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Church of Our Lady, 566 Vaughan St, Moose Jaw, SK. Father Carlos Jimenez will be the presiding celebrant. A Prayer Service will be held on Sunday, July 13th, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in Church of Our Lady. Nancy was born on April 17th, 1938 in Glengarry County, ON, the daughter of Alexander and Mary Smith. She was united in marriage to Gilbert (Rip) Ripley on April 22nd, 1957 in Ottawa, ON. He preceded her in death exactly 9 years ago July 9th, 2005. They were married for 48 years. Nancy’s first job after graduating high school was as a teller for the Toronto Dominion Bank. Throughout her life she worked at various part-time jobs, including short order cook, bartender, library assistant, and finally as a Weight Watchers facilitator. Nancy was a member of the Church of Our Lady Catholic Church and the Catholic Women’s League. She was the past-president of the Catholic Women’s League and volunteered at the church right up until just before her passing. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, Alex and Mary Smith; brothers, Bill and Jackie Smith; and sister, Teresa Leonard. Nancy is survived by her children and their spouses: Karen (Barry) Kimmerly of Chemainus, BC, Eileen Ripley of Mississauga, ON, Chip (Dianne) Ripley, Brian (Colette) Ripley, Barry (Marion) Ripley, all of Moose Jaw, SK, and Gary (Aline) Ripley of Windsor, ON; 13 loving grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Ronald (Mary) Smith of Kingston, ON; as well as numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy’s name may be made to Church of Our Lady Catholic Church, 566 Vaughan St, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 6L3.
