Herbert William Ring
On Monday, August 23, 2010 Herbert William Ring, age 87, passed on peacefully, at home, surrounded by his family. Born in Nekoma, North Dakota on December 17, 1922, Herb immigrated to Rush Lake, Saskatchewan at age 8 along with his parents, William Henry and Cora Ingold Ring, his sister Idella and younger brother Harvey. Educated in Rush Lake he went on to work for the CPR as a sign painter, traveling extensively around the prairies. Later he was self employed as a professional painter and decorator and also worked for Sask Property Management at SIAST for 12 years. On June 27, 1947 he married his sweetheart, Ruth Schultz, in Herbert, Saskatchewan and they settled in Moose Jaw to raise their family. A dedicated and committed family man, with a keen sense of humor, Herb was a bright source of love and laughter to his family, friends and his coworkers. He was loved and called ‘dad ‘ by others he cared for throughout his life, including Larry Hadwen, Steve Miners, Jim Diamond and Dave and Theresa Lyons. He will be greatly missed by all, especially by Ruth, his loving wife of 63 years, his four children Brian( Elke); Gail (John); Rafe (Rosa); Teri, as well as his grandchildren Nadja, Josh, Jen (Mike), Bill (Jill), Dan, and Jacob and one great grandson Logan. Herb fought a courageous battle with cancer for several years. Those who knew and loved him are thankful to God for the time they had with him. Services will be held at Moose Jaw Funeral Home on Saturday, August 28th, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Ashley Taylor will officiate. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Five Hills Health Region – Home Care/Palliative Care Program, 455 Fairford Street East, Moose Jaw, SK. S6H 1H3.
