RIENDEAU, Ruby Isobel (née Metcalfe)
Ruby Isobel Riendeau, aged 78 years of Riverhurst, SK, passed away on Thursday, May 15th, 2014 at Central Butte Regency Manor after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on November 25th, 1935 in Gilroy, SK and married Doug Riendeau on April 10th, 1958. Ruby worked as a Registered Nurse off and on for 40 or so years at Central Butte Union Hospital. Her fondest memories are working alongside her husband, whether hauling bales, fencing or working with livestock. Ruby enjoyed needlework, oil painting, gardening and singing. Her favorite place was her farm home. She was involved with many activities – Riverhurst Church Board, singing in the choir, sitting on the School Board, Rink Auxiliary, Plus 50 Club, and being a Cub Leader. She was predeceased by her parents, Ben and Retie Metcalfe; and her son, Garth. Ruby is survived by her husband of 56 years, Doug; daughter-in-law, Gay and her children Rachelle (Tommy), great-granddaughter, Bella Mae Ruby, Giles (Jasmine) and Shawn; daughter, Charlotte (Dale) and their children Jeneen (Kent), Breanne and Allison; son, Mark (Cheryl) and their children Dean (Tammy), Brandy, Crystal (Corey) and Bryan (Jessie); brother, John (Carolyn); sister, Winnie (Dave); sister, Sandra (Roger); brother, George (Cathy); numerous nieces, nephews and their families; as well as many dear friends. Special thank you to the staff of Central Butte Regency Hospital for their extraordinary care in a difficult time. A Celebration of Ruby’s Life will be held on Saturday, May 24th, 2014 starting at 3:00 p.m. in the Riverhurst Community Hall, Riverhurst, SK. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Ruby’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre St, Regina, SK S4P 2R3 or the Central Butte Health Care Foundation, Box 582 Central Butte, SK S0H 0T0.
