Waldemar “Walter” Josef Reihl

Walt, or as his grandchildren affectionately called him “Papa”, was born in Posen, Germany in 1941 and arrived to settle in Canada with his mother and siblings. He grew up in Wolseley, SK and moved to Moose Jaw, where he began his marriage with his wife Darlene in 1965 and they raised three children together. He will be remembered by many for his long years of service at SGI, a career that spanned 48 years, starting at the young age of 17, and ending when he retired at the age of 65. His generosity and kindness, with a gentle soul, enriched all who knew him. Above all, he was dedicated to his family. His family was most important to him and he cherished every moment he had with them. He lit up every time his grandchildren were around, and he loved to brag about each and every one of them. A beloved father, brother and uncle, he was also a devoted animal lover and will be sorely missed by his beloved pet dog, Bijou. Walter will also be missed by his dear and special friend, Jane Lingelbach, who he had enjoyed knowing and spending much time with over recent years. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Darlene; and parents, Johann and Katharina. Walt is survived by his children: Jeffrey (Jeanette) Reihl, Marcia Reihl and Jason (Martina) Reihl; grandchildren: Tierney, Trayton, Aiden, Brailen, Brittany, Sarah, Bethany and Laura; brother, Jacob; sisters, Hilda and Christine; as well as numerous sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 16th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd Ave NW, Moose Jaw, SK. The Reihl Family will receive friends and family at a Prayer Service on Monday, June 15th, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home.
