Lloyd Douglas Raine
Lloyd Douglas Raine very peacefully went to be with his beloved Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 6th, 2014. Lloyd was born on January 24th, 1933 to Wilfred and Martha (Kruger) Raine in Boissevain, MN. In 1952 he went to Berean Bible College in Calgary, AB and that is where he met his wife, Hazel Winder. They were married in April 1954 and spent 4 years in pastoral ministry in Canada before going as missionaries to India in 1959. During their 38 years in India, Lloyd taught in Bible schools in Bombay, Bangalore and Calcutta, and served in pastoral ministry in Bombay, Calcutta and Secunderabad. In 1975 he helped Global Outreach Mission launch a Bengali radio broadcast to share the good news of Jesus’ love with the millions of West Bengal and Bangladesh, and he has continued to give guidance and support to that work up to the present time. Due to serious lung problems, Lloyd retired from India in 1997 to make his home in Moose Jaw and he has been involved in various ministries here also. He was predeceased by his parents; his eldest sister, Margaret; and brothers, Wilfred and Charles. Lloyd is survived by his loving wife, Hazel; son, Randy (Loree); daughter, Brenda (Merv) Hartley; son, Philip (Pearl); 9 grandchildren: Jesse (Chelsey) Raine, Jordan (Jennie) Raine, Justin Raine, Adriana (Sam) Bryce, Jaxon Raine, Rebecca (Devon Hussack) Hartley, Caleb (Patricia) Hartley, Halle and Tristan Raine; 2 great-grandchildren, Brooke and Lucas Hartley; siblings: Aileen Raine, Don (Esther) Raine and Lois Holditch; brother-in-law, Keith Hammond; and many nieces and nephews. Lloyd was ‘Dad’ or ‘Uncle” too many on both sides of the world and will be greatly missed by all. A Time of Visitation for Family and Friends will be held on Monday, December 15th, 2014 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Hillcrest Apostolic Church, 1550 Main St N, Moose Jaw, SK. Interment will follow in Rosedale Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. A Celebration of Lloyd’s Life will be held in the sanctuary at Hillcrest Apostolic Church at 1:30 p.m. with his friend and co-worker Reverend Allan Ironside officiating. In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorial contributions may be made for the Raine’s work in India. Cheques can be made payable to Global Outreach Mission, Box 1210, St Catharines, ON L2R 7A7, designated for the Bengali Radio Broadcast. We as a family would like to express our thanks for the many weeks of excellent care given by the doctors, nursing staff and therapists in ICU at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital. God bless you all.
