Alan Wilfred Powers

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alan Wilfred Powerson Friday, February 5th, 2010 at the age of 65 years. Alan was born on August 21st, 1944 in Brandon, Manitoba and lived most of his childhood in Nesbitt, Manitoba. After graduation from High School he spent several years working for the Bank of Montreal in both Manitoba and Saskatchewan, coming to Moose Jaw in 1970 with the Credit Union and working there for 12 years. Al and his curling Buddy Lorne Heron opened Heron-Powers Insurance in January of 1983 in Eyebrow, Saskatchewan later opening an office in Moose Jaw, operating between both offices for the past 27 years. Al was predeceased by his previous wife Lynn, father Samuel; great niece Kayla Wallis; and nephew Orey Powers. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Sheila-Anne; daughters Cory Neville and Deborah Rowley; 2 grandchildren Jordan and Brooke Rowley; his mother Joan; sisters Sandi (Bruce) Gullett, Karen (Victor) Wright; brother Kevin; sister-in-law Karen (Victor) Basky; and numerous other relatives. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 11th, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in Hillcrest Apostolic Church. Rev. Allan Buchanan and Rev. Sharon Schultz will co-officiate and a private family burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
